(no title?)

  • Studio visit, piece is a small camera and a light, projected onto a flat rectangular tv screen. You put your finger on top of the light and the camera is pointed at/pressed against your finger so it captures the color of the light passing through your flesh. You can see the blood pass through/pulse on the tv.

Backstage Pass, Mixed Resins and Basswood, 2022

“Backstage Pass” was originally conceived as one entry in a larger exhibition entitled “Catalogue of Alien Genitalia”, which comprised thirty sculptures of speculative sexual organs inspired by science-fiction. This particular work explores artifice or prosthesis within the body and, specifically, interrogates the gendered construction of the genitals. Drawing on my interest in animatronics, “Backstage Pass” reveals an uncanny mechanical structure beneath the familiar anatomy of a phallus and scrotum cast from life. The work is informed by my studio practices of mold-making and toy-making and my personal practice of injecting cross-sex hormones.

DOMO PLUUME Rules Beta V0.19, Digital Print of `Pataphysical UX , 2023 Description: A tool morphs from simulation as it is by itself a virtual object, something to be realized. These rules are enacted in a language-game of systemic ponder and speculation. Its virtuality is to call forth the nuance of probability (anti-Aristotelian logic) which can be harnessed into techne/skill. The world of DOMO PLUUME has virtual potency through the program of these rules. If installed into collective thought-form, we can garner revolutionary patadigms. It is also low tech which can be spared in crisis, famine, collapse, and I think you can name the others. Yet, what is to be done? Action comes from our dreams, but have we even dreamed? So, what would you like to do?

"I keep opening animal crossing and hoping my brother will play with me again."

soft sculpture, textiles,

This is a piece talking about my own childhood escapisms through video games while also tackling the loss of relationship between me and my brother and how whenever I see him now it feels like the only thing that we have to talk about is the games we used to play; and to him those don't really matter anymore but to me it's a mental connection I can never rid myself of. Animal crossing for gamecube is old and out of date and every time I open it I get to see a glimpse of my 8-year-old brain.

A magician’s assistant loses her head while Venus (a modern parody of Cabanel’s "Birth of Venus") indulges in her iPhone. The cyborg conflations between human, myth, and the digital turn into static. A disembodied cursor changes the channel.
